In 1995, when the National College for DUI Defense, Summer Programs at Harvard Law School was created, only 60 lawyers from across the nation were invited to participate. Mr. Serna was the only attorney from the State of New Mexico who was invited to participate that first year. Mr. Serna is the first New Mexico lawyer to be named Founding Member of the National College for DUI Defense at Harvard Law School.
Mr. Serna has been in practice since 1977 and has logged many miles handling the scores of criminal cases in over 11 states. He has garnered many coveted honors, held positions of distinction, and has gained the esteem of his fellow defense lawyers, prosecutors, and judges before whom he has appeared. For example, he was the only lawyer in New Mexico to be interviewed by Lawyers Weekly USA, published in Boston, Massachusetts, for its September 2001 front page story “Drunk Driving Attorneys Use Police Videotapes to Win Cases“.
Mr. Serna is a frequent speaker at Continuing Legal Education seminars and other presentations where he is invited to educate fellow attorneys, judges, and members of the general public about “cutting-edge” issues surrounding DWI/DUI drunk driving defense.
